A boat trip early this morning. Bangkok is “Venice of East” and there are endless miles of canals all through Bangkok. On return we saw some Thailand navy boats anchored in the river.

Visited Wat Aum (Temple of the Dawn) so named in honor of time of day when Bangkok was started. Not so pretty as Wat Po, but prachides, three or four hundred feet high, are colossal.

Chinese number sixty percent of Bangkok’s population. The Thai language is somewhat similar to Chinese in so far as it is a tonal tongue. (three or four tones)
